WHO WE ARE
Over 20 years ago, our founder Audrey Wright faced the terrible tragedy of losing a son to a violent crime. Through the power of her healing of the loss of her son Gordie Audrey created this non-profit organization, Gordies Foundation, named in honor of her son.
She believed that her son’s death was not an end but a beginning; a beginning of the way to spread a message of hope to others for a life beyond crime, violence, and proverty. This message is that you have a life beyond what you have been told- a life beyound real and perceived barriers; and that Gordies Foundation is here to help you discover your true potential, discover your greatness, and overcome economic, societal, and educational barriers.
WHAT WE DO
Helping our community to overcome real and perceived barriers.
The black community, specifically on the south and west sides of Chicago, has realized increased violence, poverty, and low education attainment directly correlated with historical economic disinvestment, the criminal justice system, and the lack of technology and skilled labor training in our communities.
In order to address the urgent problem of gun violence, domestic violence, and economic disinvestment in our communities; Gordies Foundation was established to provide the knowledge, skills, and resources to overcome the psychological and historical barriers which have often prevented our community from achieving individual and collective greatness!

Therefore, it is our mission to end the intentional and perpetual violence, poverty and unemployment in the black community through education, technology, training, spiritual growth, and career development.
